Our Mission

Stroke Awareness Vermont was created in 2023 with the goal of spreading awareness about the prevalence of strokes in the United States. We aim to educate the general public on how to prevent a stroke, the signs to look for (BE FAST), share the stories of stroke survivors, and provide a comprehensive list of resources for survivors and their family members.

Hannah Roque

Miss Addison County 2024

Hannah currently holds the title of Miss Addison County, and will be competing on the Miss Vermont stage for her fourth time this year. For her Community Service Initiative, Hannah decided to advocate for stroke awareness and teach people the signs of a stroke, because her step-dad, Trent, is a multi-stroke survivor. Hannah has her degree in English and Secondary Education, and currently works at a library.

Nikki Juvan

Wife/Caregiver, Mom, Teacher

Nikki’s journey with strokes began in 2018, when her husband, Trent, survived his first of multiple strokes. Since that time she has taken on the role of full-time carepartner and found her passion for stroke advocacy and education. Along with her daughter, Hannah, they compiled a booklet called Stroke Stories, stories and resources of stroke survivors. Nikki has been a teacher for over 20 years, working with students in grades K-8 and is working on a children’s book relating to strokes.
